Coach Henry was a visionary for Nona FC, serving as the first head coach of our semi-professional USL League Two program. From day one, his determination, vision, and leadership set the tone for excellence. Under his guidance, we experienced immediate success, establishing ourselves as one of the most recognized and respected programs in the country.
Coach Henry led us to our first-ever Conference Championship, a historic playoff appearance, and a memorable run in the U.S. Open Cup, reaching the second round with an unforgettable match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies. His commitment to excellence and belief in the players helped set a high standard that still guides our club today.
Coach Henry didn’t just coach a team, he built a culture. His legacy lives on within our community, and his presence is still deeply missed and fondly remembered. He will always be a foundational part of the Nona FC story.
I will never forget the experience I had with Coach Henry at Nona FC. It was a pivotal moment that shaped me both as a person and as a footballer. Coach Henry is an exceptional coach, bringing high-level ideas, intense training sessions, and a diverse range of qualities that truly elevate his players.
I have known Guilherme Henry for a long time, and I can confidently say that he has profoundly impacted my life both on and off the field. The level of care and guidance I received under Gui’s leadership is unparalleled. He consistently provided valuable advice, recommended insightful books and podcasts, and candidly addressed the hard truths about my current situation. Gui has been instrumental in my personal and athletic development. I highly recommend working closely with Coach Gui, but be aware it is not for everyone. True commitment, humility, and a willingness to embrace discomfort are essential. If you dedicate yourself fully and remain open to growth, you will see significant progress and fly to new heights.
Thankfully, I had a coach like Gui who showed me a different direction and helped me discover the little extra actions that could make me a better player like eating healthier, working on my core, and focusing on the small details like decision making and responsibilities on and off the ball. These things don’t create immediate results, but over the course of two years, they give you a real competitive advantage. It’s a long process, but if you truly want to make your dream come true, you have to embrace it. Today, I’m playing in a top academy in Portugal, and this opportunity started years ago when I was still in Florida.
I had the privilege of working with Guilherme Henry for two outstanding seasons, winning the championship in our first year and qualifying for the US Open Cup. Gui appointed me as team captain and throughout our time together, I learned a great deal both on and off the field. He consistently pushed everyone to give our best in every training session and fostered a positive, supportive environment among players and staff. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to communicate effectively with players. Beyond the field, Gui broadened my perspective in many ways, and his leadership inspired me to pursue coaching licenses and prepare for a future career as a coach.
